Each month for the past 17 years, the Governor’s Room inside Two Rivers Country Club has been home to a rotating art show. This month, the featured artists are also club staff.
According to a Two Rivers press release, two dining employees, Matteo Hereford and Luke Schiavone, currently have their art on display at a show running through Aug. 31.
“Old, historical styles of artwork and architecture captivate me so easily, which is why Williamsburg is such a great place to get inspiration, especially for my tastes,” Schiavone, a 17-year-old dining assistant and resident, said in the release. “My art is a contemporary take on oil painting using traditional techniques, and compositions. My greatest passion is architecture.”
Longtime server and artist for more than 50 years, Hereford is showcasing more than 20 works of art from his Watermen series in the exhibit.
“I’m inspired by the area watermen working hard to make a living on the water,” he said in the release. “This is a spiritual thing for me and what I like about my 3D art is that particularly after 5 p.m. each day, as the sunlight becomes richer, more of the story I hope is told for those seeing my art.”
While Two Rivers Country Club is private, the public is welcome to visit the monthly art shows and purchase any of the art work, all of which is for sale, the release stated.
