With just over two months until Virginia’s only Kentucky Derby qualifying race, the racetrack said a limited number of $5 General Admission tickets remain available with free admission for children five and under, as well as $75 “loaded” General Admission tickets that include two food items and four drink tickets.
“Excitement is building for the 2026 Virginia Derby and tickets are flying out the door as we head towards another sold out race,” said Frank Hopf, Senior Director of Racing at Colonial Downs Racetrack. “Buy your tickets today to be a part of this iconic Virginia sporting event and to see the sport’s superstars compete in the Commonwealth’s only Kentucky Derby qualifying race!”
After a sold-out race at Colonial Downs in 2025, the racetrack noted the 2026 Virginia Derby will again serve as a qualifying race on The Road to the Kentucky Derby, with the winning horse securing a spot in the 152nd Kentucky Derby. Last year, Virginia Derby winner American Promise and runner-up Render Judgment both went on to run in the 151st Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs.
