SURRY COUNTY — The Third Annual Wine & Country Run hosted by Hampton Roads Winery will take place Labor Day Weekend.
The 5K cross-country race (3.1 miles) runs through the countryside of Surry County Saturday, Aug. 30, and will benefit the Virginia Peninsula Food Bank.
There will be a 1/2 mile kids’ run starting at 8 a.m., with the country run following at 8:30 a.m.
All entrants will receive a commemorative T-shirt, finishing medal, and a wine glass with a free pour (age-appropriate). Awards will be given to top finishers in different age groups, with results being posted electronically. Bibs can be picked up at the Winery on Thursday or Friday, or immediately prior to the race.
“I want to thank the number of local sponsors that have allowed us to hold this event,” Hampton Roads Winery Owner David Sheldon said. “It is a unique and beautiful course, and it is for such a great cause. I’m so thankful to see so much support from the community that I think we can build on this for years to come.”
Registration for the kid’s run is $12, youth ages from 12-17 is $20, and adults 18 and up is $35. Teams of 5 or more members receive an additional bottle of wine or soda. For more information and to sign up, visit wineandcountryrun.com
