WASHINGTON, D.C. —  Richmond International Airport (RIC) made it into the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) annual Top 10 List of most unusual items found at security checkpoints in 2022.

The Richmond find ranked No. 5 on the Top 10 List released in an online video it posted on its YouTube account.

In the November incident, a TSA officer spotted what appeared to be a knife inside a man’s carry-on bag at a checkpoint X-ray machine. A preliminary search revealed nothing, but when each item was separated and re-introduced through the X-ray machine, the image indicated the knife inside a laptop computer.

Once tools were obtained to disassemble the computer, a double-edged knife was found to have been concealed inside its guts.

The traveler initially denied knowledge that the knife was in the laptop, however, once revealed, he confirmed that it was his.
