KING WILLIAM COUNTY — A former behavioral technician at Cumberland Hospital for Children and Adolescents has been indicted on one felony count of malicious wounding.
57-year-old Stacey Burrell, of King William, was indicted by a King William multijurisdictional grand jury on Wednesday, July 14 following a presentation of evidence by prosecutors from Attorney General Herring’s Office.
The indictment is related to injuries suffered by a juvenile patient at Cumberland Hospital in 2019, where Burrell was employed as a behavior technician.
The indictment is part of an ongoing investigation into Cumberland Hospital for Children and Adolescents by the Virginia State Police.
Previously, former Cumberland psychotherapist Herschel “Mickey” Harden was indicted on two felony counts of sexual assualt in February 2020, but died by suicide before he could stand trial.
Burrell’s indictment will be prosecuted by members of Attorney General Herring’s Major Crimes and Emerging Threats Section.
