Local nonprofit’s annual food drive is this weekend

The Virginia Peninsula Foodbank‘s annual food drive starts Friday in Hampton and Yorktown.

More than 30,000 city residents struggle with hunger every day and all donations benefit the nonprofit, according to a news release from the City of Newport News.

Items needed include frozen turkeys, canned fruits and vegetables, whole grains and boxed meals. Monetary donations are also accepted. Click here for a complete list of items.

The Virginia Peninsula Foodbank’s 22nd Annual Mayflower Marathon Food Drive starts Friday, Nov. 16-18, at Coliseum Marketplace, 2150 Coliseum Drive in Hampton or the Kroger Grocery Store, 5007-2 Victory Blvd. in Yorktown.
