According to the Dominion Power website, there are still thousands of customers without power.
As of 9:07 p.m. Friday, Hampton has 9,123 outages and Newport News has 13,732 outages.
Restoration seems to be coming along. As of 10:40 a.m. Saturday, 11,788 customers remain without power in Newport News; 5,890 in Hampton.

Thursday night in Denbigh, a tree fell into a home trapping a woman inside, said Robert Lee, assistant chief of EMS. At 11:03 p.m., fire crews responded to the 100 block of Arcadia Drive and the woman was treated for “minor injuries” at the scene. She was then “extricated” and taken to a local hospital.
Off Sweetbriar Road and Nutmeg Quarter Place, residents said a transformer blew around 11:30 p.m. Thursday after a tree fell on power lines. Resident Lacey Whetsel, a teacher at Forrest Elementary School in Hampton, said her neighbors reported hearing a “loud, popping noise.”
The area is currently sectioned off with yellow tape and as of Friday morning.
In the Denbigh-Beachwood area, thousands are still without power because of downed trees and power lines, said resident Emin Arakelov, regional account director for Apartment List.
Regan Downer, shift supervisor at the Starbucks across from Christopher Newport University, said her apartment complex, Pinnacle Apartments in Hampton, lost power Thursday night.
Less than a mile away, a large tree fell down in front of the Mariners’ Museum and Park entrance. Even though the museum lost power, the entire staff came in Friday to clear trees and debris in the park for the ARRRtober festival event, Jenna Dill, marketing and communications manager for the museum wrote in an email. The museum opened at 1 p.m. Friday.

What to do about downed trees and other debris?
- Blocking roads – Report to 311 Center at 933-2311 or 311@nnva.gov
- In houses – Report to 911 so the Fire Department can inspect the residence.
- On private property – Trees down on private property are the property owner’s responsibility. If your neighbor’s tree falls on your property, you’re responsible for the part that is on your property. You may want to contact your insurance company.
- Tree and other vegetative/brush debris placed curbside for collection must be cut to sizes that are no larger than six inches in diameter or 6 feet in length. (Any contractor generated debris cannot be set out at the curb)
- Do not block the roadway or storm drains with debris
