What’s with the blue outfit? Well, it has something to do with bullying

Newport News Public Schools will have activities throughout the month of October in honor of National Bullying Prevention Month.

Earlier this week, students, faculty and staff wore blue to take a “stand” against bullying on World Bullying Prevention Day, according to NNPS.

Each school will have different activities or lessons to prevent bullying, which range from creating visual displays about bullying to the snapchat filter challenge, according to the STAND activities flyer.

The NNPS flyer also mentions that all students are encouraged to participate in STAND night, a unity march during half-time on Oct. 26 at Todd Stadium.

Currently, NNPS has an anonymous bullying hotline, a student-led group called Expect Respect, that promotes student safety and professional school counselors at all schools, said Michelle Price, director of public information and community involvement for NNPS.
