
NEWPORT NEWS — The Historical Services division of the city’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism have uncovered several artifacts at the Warwicktowne archaeological dig site.
The archaeological team wants to share the discoveries with the public and is offering free tours of the dig site at Riverview Farm Park, starting Friday.
The tours will also include information about the historic site, the different work areas and the archaeological methods used during the excavation, according to a news release from the city.
There will be eight tours in total over the span of two weeks. The tour dates are as follows:
- Friday, Aug. 31, 10 a.m.
- Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2 p.m.
- Friday, Sept. 7, 10 a.m.
- Saturday, Sept. 8, 9 a.m.
- Monday, Sept. 10, 10 a.m.
- Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2 p.m.
- Friday, Sept. 14, 10 a.m.
- Saturday, Sept. 15, 9 a.m.
