NEWPORT NEWS — Sister Cities Newport News is looking for an outgoing, mixed-age delegation to visit their Sister City of Neyagawa, Japan from Nov. 16-25.
Citizen Diplomats will pay for their travel expenses which include airfare and spending money for nine days.
All diplomats will be “Homestayed” with local families who will provide tours and most meals.
SCNN is mainly looking for youth delegates for this exchange, however, applications are welcome from all ages.
Delegates must be in grades 8‐12 for the 2018‐2019 academic school year.
Home-schooled children are welcome to apply.
Those interested in traveling as part of the upcoming delegation must submit an application by Sept. 10, be a current member of SCNN, and have a current passport or proof of pending passport application.
They must also agree to share their experiences with others upon returning, either by hosting an incoming delegate or volunteering their time to the organization.
Volunteer opportunities include committee work, fundraising, speaking to youth or civic groups and more.
There is a $150 non-refundable administrative fee required for all delegates chosen for travel.
