NEWPORT NEWS — A special performance of the Disney classic, The Lion King, will be coming to the Ella Fitzgerald Theater on Aug. 9 and 10 at 6 p.m. both days.
Worth noting: This is The Lion King Jr.
The Downing-Goss Cultural Arts Center sponsored an eight-week summer camp where children got the chance to prepare for their roles in the performance.
Participants of the summer camp learned dancing, singing, acting, drumming and instrumentation along with set and costume design.
The 60-minute adaptation mixes elements from both the film and the Broadway production.
Tickets are available for $5 on the Downing-Gross website or at the theater’s box office.
Disney is a licensor only of this stage play and is not a producer of this show.
