NEWPORT NEWS — Environmental advocacy groups will be hosting a first-of-its-kind block party in King Lincoln Park aimed at spreading awareness about sea level rise and climate change.
The “Flood of Voices” Block Party on July 29 will bring activists and the community together to spread awareness about climate change and sea level rise in Hampton Roads region.
Residents from the Hampton Roads region will join for a fun party where art, music and games will be creatively used to tell the story of how climate change impacts the region.
Also, at the event they will urge Virginia leaders to join the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative.
The Greenhouse Gas Initiative is a multi-state cap-and-trade program and the advocacy groups want Virginia leaders to join it to unlock funds for adaption measures throughout Virginia while guaranteeing long-term reductions in carbon emissions in a way that is proven cost-effective.
