NEWPORT NEWS — The second phase of construction of Warwick Boulevard over Lake Maury Bridge Replacement will begin on July 12.
Commuters can expect the traffic pattern to shift to the newly constructed portion of the bridge.
The number of northbound and southbound lanes will remain the same as the shift to the west, allowing for the second phase of bridge demolition work to begin and construction of the east portion of the bridge to be completed.
During construction, the roadway will be modified to provide two lanes of northbound traffic and one lane of southbound traffic, according to a news release from the city.
The work zone speed limit will be set at 35 mph both northbound and southbound.
The city anticipates the project to be complete in early 2019.
