Independence Day is right around the corner and Hampton Roads has no shortage of places to watch fireworks.
Here are a few places that will have fireworks shows to commemorate the 4th of July.
Newport News
Pyrotecnico, a national fireworks company, will provide a fireworks show starting at 9:30 p.m. Food vendors, face painting, bubble soccer and live music will all be on site as well.
When: 7 p.m. until 10 p.m.
Where: Victory Landing Park, 50 26th St.
Cost: Free
Spirit of America is a laser light show at the Virginia Living Museum, which blends patriotic music and laser lights.
When: 11:30 a.m. and then hourly from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m.
Where: Virginia Living Museum, 524 J. Clyde Morris Blvd.
Cost: $3 for Virginia Living Museum members and $6 for non-members.
Hampton
Fort Monroe will be hosting a full day of activities for the holiday. They’ll have everything from an opening flag ceremony to a live band to a fireworks show that evening.
When: 9 a.m. for the opening flag ceremony, fireworks kick off at 9:15 p.m.
Where: Fort Monroe
Cost: Free Admission
A few notes about the evening fireworks display:
- There will be no entry on the Fort after 8 p.m.
- The ideal location to view the fireworks is in the event area (Soccer Field) between Stillwell Drive and Patch Road.
- You may also view the fireworks from Wherry Quarter but you must arrive before 7 p.m. as there will be a family fun event taking place there as well.
