NEWPORT NEWS — In an effort to make payments more manageable, Newport News Waterworks is switching from a bimonthly billing system to a monthly system.
Beginning July 1, Waterworks is converting its meter reading to a monthly process from an every other month process, according to a news release from the city.
“Monthly billing provides more timely information about water usage and allows for the early detection and prompt repair of plumbing leaks. Monthly billing also makes it easier for customers to manage their monthly household finances,” officials wrote in the news release.
The first bill received after July 1 will be a transition bill that will include days of service between 30 to 60 days, depending on when the account was last billed, according to the news release.
After that, billing will occur every month for approximately 30 days of service.
