
NEWPORT NEWS — The city Human Services Youth Services Division is grilling and playing basketball to celebrate the end of another school year.
The division is hosting its second annual “School’s Out Cookout” and basketball tournament starting at 9 a.m. Friday (June 15) at the South Morrison Family Education Center.
Guests can enjoy free food, cotton candy, water games, temporary tattoos, bracelet making, and will have time to connect with city vendors.
The basketball tournament will be from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. and is open to both high school students and adults.
Participants will receive a free t-shirt.
Registration is required and can be done online or by contacting Cory Hampton at 757-369-6835.
City police and firefighters will also be on hand meeting and greeting with attendees.
