A Hampton man is facing a minimum of 20 years in prison for ordering the shooting of a witness.
After a two day trial, a jury found Lecram Sanders, 30, guilty of five charges on May 8, including aggravated malicious wounding for ordering the shooting of a man who had been beaten by Clyde Boyce, Sanders’ uncle, according to a news release from the state’s Office of the Attorney General.
Sanders will be sentenced on July 26.
The victiim, who survived the shooting, was going to testify in connection with a shooting on April 21, 2015, according to the news release.
Sanders ordered his co-defendant Derrick Johnson to shoot the man who had been assaulted by Boyce. Boyce had recently been released from prison, where he served time for second-degree murder, the Attorney General’s office said.
The jury also found Sanders guilty of breaking and entering, grand larceny, larceny of a firearm and possession of a stolen firearm for his role in a March 14, 2015 burglary in which several firearms were stolen, including the one later used by Johnson to shoot the witness, according to the news release.
