The City of Newport News is looking for submissions for the design of the fence around the Marshall Early Learning Center and An Achievable Dream Academy, which is located within in the Marshal-Ridley Choice Neighborhood.
The Marshall-Ridley Choice Neighborhood is located in the southeast section of the city and sits near 39th Street and Marshall Avenue.
Designs must be created using 2-inch wide plastic strips of material so they can be woven through a chain-link fence and attached, according to a news release from the city.
The winning design will be created on the fences around the schools.
Because of material constraints, designs are limited to the following colors: black, white, sand, brown, red, and green, according to the news release.
Information and applications are available at Call to Artists. The deadline to submit a design is May 21.
Entries can be emailed to [email protected] or dropped off at the Department of Planning on the 2nd floor of City Hall at 2400 Washington Ave.
