Hampton University defensive lineman signs NFL contract

HAMPTON — Hampton University’s Owen Obasuyi will get his shot at NFL stardom after being signed by the Arizona Cardinals.

Obasuyi, a senior defensive tackle, signed a contract with the Cardinals after going undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft.

“First day I started here I told him that he has a shot to play at the next level,” said Marcus Dixon, Hampton’s defensive line coach and former NFL player, in a news release.  “He had to take on the mentality that no one can block me and he did that. He is raw, but I can see him flourishing at the next level where you make it your profession.”

Obasuyi finished his college career 144 tackles at 14 sacks.

Historically, Hampton has had more than 40 players play professionally.
