Drive Safe Hampton Roads Provides Sober Rides for St. Patrick’s Day

HAMPTON ROADS – St. Patrick’s Day 2026 in Hampton Roads is filled with parades, after parties, and events from Williamsburg to Norfolk on March 14 to smaller pub crawls and celebrations all over the area through the 17.

If you plan to celebrate, Drive Safe Hampton Roads urges drivers to remember that impaired driving is deadly and never an option, and to include a plan for a sober ride home.

According to the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles, Crash Facts, Hampton Roads experienced 20 crashes resulting in 20 injuries from March 14 to March 17 in 2025. Interactive Public Report 

Drive Safe Hampton Roads is sponsoring the 757 Sober Ride for St. Patrick’s Day

  • Noon, Saturday, March 14, until 3 a.m. Sunday, March 15.
  • 5 p.m., Tuesday, March 17, until 3 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18.

Powered by Lyft, individuals 21 and older who are celebrating with alcohol, legal or illegal drugs, may take advantage of this ride, up to $15, by following these steps:

  • Download the Lyft app to your cell phone. 
  • Go to www.drivesafehr.org to get the 757 Sober Ride promo code.
  • DSHR’s St. Patrick’s Day 757 Sober Ride program promo codes will be posted at noon on March 14 and again on March 17 at 5 p.m.
  • Enter the 757 Sober Ride promo code in the app’s “Payment” tab (under the “Add Lyft Pass” option). 
  • Receive a sober ride home, up to $15.

DSHR says the code will only work during the above-stated times for rides originating from or with a destination within Hampton Roads.

“Driving impaired is simply unacceptable,” said Brian Hennessy, Chair, Drive Safe Hampton Roads’ Impaired Driving Prevention Committee. “Plan ahead of time for a sober designated driver or take advantage of the 757 Sober Ride program. That way you can have fun rather than risk arrest or worse, an impaired driving-related crash, injury or fatality.”
