NEWPORT NEWS— Innovate Hampton Roads will host its inaugural State of Innovation Address April 1 at the Mariners’ Museum, bringing together leaders from business, technology, defense, research and economic development to showcase innovation already underway in the region.
The event, scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., is designed to move beyond speculation and headlines from other regions, focusing instead on developments happening inside Hampton Roads. Organizers say the address will connect activity that has largely taken place quietly into a single, cohesive narrative.
The program follows the theme “From Deep Sea to Deep Space,” reflecting the region’s strengths in maritime, aerospace, defense, energy and advanced technology. Speakers will include representatives from NASA, the Hampton Roads Alliance, Fairlead and other companies shaping the region’s future.
“Innovation in Hampton Roads has reached an inflection point,” said Tim Ryan, executive director of Innovate Hampton Roads. “The region is producing real companies, retaining talent and drawing attention from outside the market. The State of Innovation Address creates a moment to step back and see the full picture.”
The event also will unveil the first tranche of the IHR 200, a curated list of 200 privately owned companies in the 757 region, highlighting the organizations driving Hampton Roads’ future.
The State of Innovation Address is aimed at founders, executives, technologists, investors and economic development leaders, as well as anyone seeking a clear view of regional innovation. Tickets are $45 and include lunch. Capacity is limited.
