WILLIAMSBURG — Two events scheduled for Valentine’s Day and President’s Day weekend will act as fundraisers for the Gweedo Memorial Foundation.
The Gweedo Memorial Foundation is sponsoring a speed dating event at the DoubleTree Hotel Feb. 14 from 5 to 6 p.m. The free speed dating event will serve as a way for people 21 and up to meet and connect with other singles. Registration is required for the event through the foundation’s website.
Immediately following the speed dating event, a $75 plated dinner will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. Following the dinner, local band Strictly Bizzness will provide live music and dancing until 11 p.m. Tickets for the dinner can be purchased online.
To commemorate President’s Day Weekend, the Gweedo Memorial Foundation is also sponsoring a visit to The President’s Heads, a former park in the Williamsburg area that was shuttered in 2010. The park is not open to the public without a tour.
Those who visit the park Feb. 14 will get to see 42 sculptures of the heads of former presidents. In addition, mementos will be on display, including several of the original placards, park signage, vintage park images and more. There will also be presidential trivia games throughout the day.
Ticket pricing varies throughout the day. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tour tickets are available through Eventbrite.
The foundation, established in memory of Yorktown teen Conner Guido, who was killed in 2019 in a car accident by an unlicensed teen driver, works to educate parents and teens on the importance of safe driving.
