WILLIAMSBURG — The64.com, an online competition platform, recently named Colonial Williamsburg as one of 64 finalists in its America’s Best Haunted Destination contest.

The platform is set up like a March Madness-style bracket where attractions go head to head through rounds of 64, 32, 16, eight, four and two, ultimately ending with a destination being crowned the best haunted attraction.

Colonial Williamsburg is representing the state of Virginia in the contest, as is Belle Grove Plantation in Middletown and George Washington’s home and plantation at Mount Vernon.

“Halloween is the one time of year we celebrate being scared, and haunted destinations conjure the thrill of ghosts, mystery, and the unknown,” said Justin Woo, founder of The64.com. “This tournament reveals which stories and places America can’t stop talking about.”

Voting for the round of 64 starts today and runs through Oct. 18. Voting is once per day per person and is free.

More information on the contest and the entire bracket can be found on The64.com.
