WILLIAMSBURG — Progress is being made on the new Williamsburg Police Station, and it was shown off during a hard hat tour of the facility on Sept. 23.

“We plan on being here for the next 50 years,” said Williamsburg Police Chief Sean Dunn during the hard hat tour.

Blueprints show plans for three stories, as well as a basement level. The building is designed with both the growth of the police department and the community in mind, and associated changing needs. The new facility also includes increased storage for the police department and an open third floor for possible future needs.

At information sessions in 2024, the new station was noted to feature:

  • A community room with seating for 70
  • A state-of-the-art property and evidence facility
  • Space dedicated to officer wellness, including a fitness facility
  • Multiple interview rooms for suspects
  • Dedicated reporting rooms for victims and families
  • Sally port for transferring suspects into the building
