WILLIAMSBURG — Jamestown 4-H Educational Center will host a Shrimp Boil on Sept. 6 at its location on the James River in an effort to raise funds to continue its outdoor education programming.
The center, which has been open since 1928, works to provide hands-on learning and outdoor exploration.
“We host 4-H Junior Summer Camps and Day Camps, as well as year-round programs that serve schools, families, and businesses from our local community and across the country. Through outdoor education and nature-based learning, our programs foster teamwork, resilience, leadership, and environmental stewardship. Activities include boating, swimming, creative arts, archery, athletics, outdoor living skills, marine ecology, and our low ropes challenge course, each designed to help participants grow, connect, and thrive,” Aggie Morris, Development Director of Jamestown 4-H Educational Center, explained.
At the event on Sept. 6, guests will dine on Old Bay-seasoned shrimp, corn, potatoes and andouille sausage. Beer from Frothy Moon Brewhouse will also be available, as will a house-made basil lemonade. Live music will be presented by Ryan Link of No Charge Band.
The event is open to those 21 and up.
“We’re thrilled to invite the community to our Shrimp Boil on the River event. Every ticket sold directly supports our youth development programs at Jamestown 4-H Educational Center, allowing us to provide hands-on, outdoor learning experiences that build confidence, leadership, and lifelong memories. Your attendance helps us continue a legacy of empowering young people across our region,” Sue Williams, Center Director, shared.
Tickets are available for river-view or tide-side seating through Eventbrite.
