WILLIAMSBURG — Mondays @ Frink, hosted at the Abram Frink Jr. Community Center, is a new weekly event hosted by Williamsburg Regional Library.
According to WRL, this initiative is meant to promote learning, reading, and community involvement while also building cross-generational connections. This program will focus on engaging the community through literacy for all ages, with weekly Monday activities, WRL said.
According to WRL, this program targets families with events such as games and storytimes. However, the program also offers opportunities for senior citizens, hosting special events aimed towards the generation. This weekly event also includes a literacy CAFE for older adults. According to TheDailyCafe.com, CAFE is an acronym for comprehension, accuracy, fluency and expand vocabulary.
“Our goal with Mondays @ Frink is to meet people where they are and to bring the library’s most cherished resources — stories, connection, and lifelong learning — into spaces that are part of everyday life,” said Sandy Towers, Director of WRL.
According to WRL, the program was made possible through the support of ibrary and literacy advocates Sandy and Steve Menaquale. It also thanked the James City County Parks and Recreation department for the use of the space.
“We’re incredibly grateful to Sandy and Steve Menaquale for helping us launch this program, and we’re proud to create a warm and welcoming environment that encourages curiosity, conversation, and community,” Towers said.
The program is open to the public and free to attend. Visit wrl.org/community-outreach/ for more information.
