YORKTOWN — The Watermen’s Museum in Yorktown will mark the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution Saturday, June 4 with its 1772 Colonial Militia Muster.
The event is the first of the region’s American Revolution 250th Anniversary programs to examine and discuss the causes of the American Revolution and how they impact our shared history.
The Militia Muster and Historic Craft Faire will take place at York Hall, 301 Main St., and runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The complimentary Yorktown Trolley will be in operation to take visitors to town-wide events.
The 250th Anniversary History Lecture Series will round out the day at 3 p.m. at York Hall with a discussion of The Gaspee Affair — the burning of a British customs schooner that served as a prelude to the American Revolution.
Visitors are encouraged to “join the ranks with the citizens of York as we explore our shared history and begin the celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution.”
