YORK COUNTY — Even though it’s still 146 days until Christmas and 119 days until Hanukkah, the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office (YPSO) is already getting ready for Shop with a Sheriff, the division’s community initiative that helps local children through generosity.
Despite COVID-19 trying to put a damper on last-year’s holiday spirit, the department was still able to have it’s annual Shop with a Sheriff for the 2020 holiday season. Last year, 100 children were helped through the program, according to a public post from the YPSO.
The YPSO accepts donations year-round, even in July. It is through donations from the community that the department is able to provide meaningful experiences for kids.
Checks can be made payable to “Shop with a Sheriff” and mailed to the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office “Shop with a Sheriff,” P.O. Box 99, Yorktown, VA 23690. All donations are tax deductible.
Anyone wishing to contribute or receive information about “Shop with a Sheriff” please contact Shelley Anderson at (757) 890-3653.
