WILLIAMSBURG — The Williamsburg Regional Library (WRL) has announced its lineup of events for the first official week of summer.
Library-goers can take part in the grand opening of the Kiwanis Kids Idea Studio at the James City County (JCC) Library, according to a WRL press release.
The area is recently renovated and offers interactive play opportunities to promote early literacy and creative skills. The grand opening will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 26.
After opening remarks, activities and play areas will include barrel train rides, prize giveaways, a bounce house, an inflatable obstacle course, spin art, face painting, and music. Sno-cones and popcorn will be available for free while supplies last, and food can be purchased.

Other children’s events throughout the week include All-Ages Storytime at 10 a.m. on June 22 at the James City County Library and June 25 at the Stryker Center. Kids and their caregivers can take part in rhymes, sing-alongs and other activities.
On Tuesday, June 22, Catch-a-Craft is open at the Stryker Center from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the JCC Library. There is a new craft activity each week.
Singer, songwriter and ventriloquist Chris Campbell will play music for kids at the Williamsburg Library, beginning at 10 a.m. June 23.
Kids can also get their introduction to 3D printing or take part in story time about space aliens on June 24 at the Stryker Center.
Each Friday kids can play games, participate in activities and enjoy snacks outside the Williamsburg Library after story time, as part of Fun Fridays on the Square.
Kids aren’t the only ones who can get in on the fun. WRL has planned several activities this week for teenagers and adults, too.
Teenagers can play Nintendo Switch, Minecraft, Magic the Gathering, and more from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the Stryker Center on June 23.
The Thursday afternoon film series continues June 24 at 2 p.m. at the Williamsburg Library. This week, they will feature the historical drama “Goya’s Ghosts,” in which the painter Francisco Goya confronts the Spanish Inquisition.
Another film screening will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday with another edition of the LGBTQ+ Film Festival. This week the film “Milk” will be screened.
