The start date for vaccinations for eligible populations at 36 CVS Health locations in Virginia has been moved to Friday, Feb. 12 in order to ensure in-store vaccine availability, the company said Monday.
The scheduling system for appointments will open on Thursday, Feb. 11.
CVS Health confirmed local media reports that those who pre-registered through their local department of health have been able to get vaccine appointments early.
“The state of Virginia asked us to open our scheduling system early for those who pre-registered for a vaccination through their local department of health,” CVS Health Senior Manager of Corporate Communications Amy Thibault confirmed in an email to WYDaily on Tuesday. “We have accommodated this request and Virginians who pre-registered can now look for available appointments in our system.
“On Thursday, the system will open to anyone 65+ in Virginia,” Thibault added.
CVS Health announced the 11-state vaccine rollout last week, and vaccinations were originally scheduled to begin on Feb. 11.
CVS Health plans to administer up to 26,000 total doses across Virginia via the federal pharmacy partnership program. CVS plans to expand to more locations and offer additional appointments, subject to vaccine availability.
Due to the fact that vaccinations are only available at select locations based on supply, CVS Health is not providing a full list of participating locations. Appointments are required.
- Eligibility is based on state criteria
- Patients must register in advance on CVS’s website or through the CVS Pharmacy app. Those without online access can contact CVS Customer Service.
- Walk-in vaccinations without appointments are not available.
