A former Walsingham Academy staff member is now being implicated in an alleged sexual assault that happened some 24 years ago while she was still employed at the school.

Now 50 years old, Kimberly Suzanne Orange was arrested Tuesday by James City County Police.

She was booked into the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail charged with three counts of carnal knowledge and three counts of indecent liberties by someone in a supervisory role. A bond has not been set.

Online jail records indicate Orange’s listed address as Hampton.

The charges stemmed from the alleged assaults from 1996-1997, police said. Walsingham is an independent Catholic school in Williamsburg and was founded in 1947.

Police said Orange “engaged in an inappropriate relationship” with a 13-year-old girl, who was a student at the school during that time.

The alleged incidents took place in James City County, Williamsburg and multiple other jurisdictions, police said.

Police said the school was made aware of the relationship in 1996, and Orange resigned. A police report was filed, but no charges were brought forth at the request of the parents. Information on what Orange’s duties were at the school was not released.

The girl, now an adult, filed another report with the police department on July 24, said Police Chief Steve Rubino.

Rubino could not comment further on the case, citing an open investigation.

WYDaily reached out to Walsingham Academy spokesman Ryan Cane to see how long Orange worked at the school, what her position was and the dates of her employment with the school.

“We will not be commenting on this case at all,” he said.

Attempts to contact other school officials Tuesday were unsuccessful.
