If you enjoy going to Veterans Park, then your routine might need a little adjustment.
The Monticello Avenue entrance to Veterans Park will be closed Aug. 14-18 for parking lot repaving, weather permitting.
Park-goers are advised to use the Ironbound Road entrance instead.
Michelle Lightfoot, James City County Parks and Recreation‘s parks operations manager, said the paving is a designated repair project to fix any wear and tear to the parking lot.
Lightfoot said parking should not be greatly affected, since the parking lot on the Monticello side of the park is smaller.
Other park amenities, such as the walking trails, Kidsburg playground, and the athletic courts, are not affected by the project and will remain open to the public. The eight pickle ball courts will also remain open, from 7 a.m. to sunset daily.
Park water fountains are not in use currently because of the pandemic, but public restrooms are still open.
Park officials ask that patrons follow work crews’ instructions and keep children away from paving equipment.
Patrons are still strongly encouraged to keep following social distancing guidelines when using park facilities.
