Williamsburg is one step closer to another retirement community.
The city’s Planning Commission approved the plans for Virginia Greens Retirement Community.
The Wednesday vote was unanimous.
Cameron General Contractors Inc. submitted the application to build 130 senior apartments on 4301 Battery Blvd. near Aura at QuarterPath and Riverside Doctors’ Hospital Williamsburg.
Heather Markle, the city’s zoning administrator, said Kevin Cox, project engineer for Richmond-based Bowman Consulting, is the developer for the project.
The next step is the Williamsburg City Council — the agenda for the next meeting on July 9 has not been posted.
The property is off Route 199 along the border of Williamsburg and James City County. If approved, the three-story apartment building would be 182,000 square feet on 14.62 acres.
