James City County continues to have the highest number of positive coronavirus (COVID 19) cases per capita in the state.
As of Tuesday, James City County has 89 cases, Newport News has a 23, York County has 14, Hampton has 13, Williamsburg has 8 and Poquoson has 2, according to the Virginia Department of Health’s website.
The VDH website now shows the number of deaths by state region: Eastern has 11, Northern has 7, Central has 7, Southwest has 2 and Northwest has zero.
Virginia has 1,250 positive cases and 27 deaths. At least eight people from the Peninsula Health District have died from the coronavirus.
The Peninsula Health District covers Newport News, Poquoson, Williamsburg, James City County and York County. The Hampton Health District covers Hampton.
On Monday, there were 73 positive cases in James City County, 18 in Newport News, 11 in York County, 9 in Hampton, 7 in Williamsburg and 2 in Poquoson, according to the Virginia Department of Health’s website.
