A 19-year-old man has been charged during the search for two missing juveniles.
On January 8, 2020, around 8:50 p.m., Norfolk police were alerted to a man demanding money in exchange for one of the missing teenagers. According to a Norfolk Police Department news release, detectives located the man and placed him under arrest in the City of Virginia Beach.
As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the “ransom” was a hoax. Christopher M. Dunlap has been charged with one felony count of attempting to obtain money under false pretenses. Dunlap is being held at the Norfolk City Jail without bond.
