Hampton Roads and the Peninsula are in for some mild Christmas Eve and Christmas Day weather. While there is no snow or rain expected, there will be sunny days and chilly nights.

“It’s looking great for both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day,” said Jonathan McGee, meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Wakefield.

Christmas Eve, the rain will clear up from the night before leaving the day mostly sunny with high temperatures in the low to mid-50s, McGee said. At night, the low temperatures will in the upper 30s to low 40s.

He said typically during this time of year, normal temperatures range from the high 50s to the low 30s.

Christmas will also be another sunny day with high temperatures in the mid to upper 50s and at night, temperatures in the upper 30s to low 40s, McGee added.

No rain or snow accumulation is expected and the temperatures will remain dry though the week.

“In fact, we’ll expect the milder temperatures throughout the weekend,” McGee said.
