Those looking to break a sweat at the Abram Frink Jr. Community Center will have to go elsewhere in the coming days.
The community center will be closed beginning Monday through July 7 for maintenance work, according to a news release from James City County. Work will include refinishing the gym floor as well as cleaning the carpet and locker room tile.
Mike Curry, a customer service representative for the James City County Recreation Center, said this is part of regular maintenance for the facility.
During the closure, residents have the option to go to the James City County Recreation Center at no additional charge.
“Anything you can do at the other center, you can do here,” Curry said.
However, pass-holders also have the option to freeze their pass which means the pass cannot be used during that time, but when the center reopens the pass can be reactivated. Curry said freezing the pass would add more time to it.
Curry said the James City County Recreation Center is equipped to handle the influx of visitors that might come from the other center during this time.
The James City County Recreation Center is open:
- Monday to Thursday, 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Friday 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Saturday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Sunday, 1-6 p.m.
