Got plans in April? New ‘Scrumptious’ festival comes to Williamsburg

CultureFix is promoting a new festival, Scrumptious, a four-day event combining annual staples such as Annual Art on the Square and other festivities like a free community concert.

“We’re a small town and we can’t create these big events every weekend,” said Steve Rose, founder of Culture Fix. “I think anchoring them makes more sense.”

The nonprofit organization is working with the 56th Annual Art on the Square, Foodapalooza: A Festival of Taste and the Williamsburg Craft Beer Festival by highlighting the three events and adding a free concert, special tastings and a themed dinner.

So why Scrumptious?

It was also Rose’s idea to create a big festival so people can stay in Williamsburg for the weekend instead of for the night — he spent three months brainstorming a name for the multifaceted event before using Scrumptious, a word commonly used in England and Australia.

“It’s a cool word, it’s fun to say,” said Rose, who is originally from England and has been in the U.S. for 23 years.

The Scrumptious festival is at 401 N Boundary St. on April 25-29. See the schedule below. For tickets and more information, visit the Scrumptious website or follow the event on Facebook.
