NEWPORT NEWS — This city’s public school district wants federal employees affected by the partial government shutdown to apply for substitute teacher positions at Wednesday’s job fair.
The city’s public schools district is hosting the job fair.
To qualify, applicants need at least 30 college credits and a minimum 2.5 GPA.
According to the NNPS’ announcement, applicants should bring resumes and copies of college transcripts or degrees and can interview for temporary, part-time or full-time substitute teaching positions and get job offers on the spot.
Applicants with degrees earn $80 per day and applicants with no degrees get $65 per day.
The Federal Employees Substitute Teacher Job Fair is at the Human Resources Office, 12507 Warwick Blvd. on Wednesday, Jan. 23 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
No prior teaching experience is required.
