A York County man who killed another man during an altercation on Walnut Drive in 2017 was ordered to serve 13 years in prison, according to court records.
Ryan At’wan Lyon, 33, was sentenced last Thursday for malicious wounding, involuntary manslaughter and the use of a firearm in a felony.
Records show that Lyon received 10 years on the malicious wounding and involuntary manslaughter charges. He got an additional three years on the use of a firearm in a felony — he’ll be under probation for 40 years following his prison term, court papers indicated.
The charges were in connection with the death of Carlos Lamont Lassiter, 40, of Williamsburg, in March 2017.
Lassiter was killed by Lyon during an altercation at a birthday party for a cousin of Lyon’s, according to testimony from Lakisha Marsh, Lyon’s mother.
Lyon became upset with Lassiter and pulled a gun from his waistband and used it to strike Lassiter in the head twice. When he went to strike a third time, the gun went off and struck Lassiter in the chest.
Lassiter died the following day during surgery.
