James City County police are searching for Javon Jones, 24, in connection with a shooting last month on Forest Glen Drive.
Officers were dispatched around 11 p.m. Aug. 27 to Forest Glen Drive after gunfire was reported in the area, police spokeswoman Stephanie Williams said.
When police approached a vehicle in the area, all of the occupants ran away. Officers subsequently found a loaded rifle and a small bag of marijuana inside the vehicle, Williams said.
The investigation revealed that Sedrick Jackson, 27, pulled a gun on Jones during an argument. Jones then displayed a 9mm rifle and exchanged gunfire with Jackson, Williams said.
Rounds from the altercation struck another occupied vehicle and an occupied residence nearby, Williams said.
No injuries were reported.
On Thursday, Jackson was arrested in Newport News on a charge of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
Warrants for Jones on charges of attempted malicious wounding and shooting at an occupied vehicle are still outstanding, Williams said.
