James City County Police are looking for man who is accused of using a stolen check.

On June 26, a resident of Newport News reported that his home had been burglarized on June 1. Because the home had been ransacked, the resident didn’t notice his checks had been stolen until the checks were later cashed, police said.

A stolen check for $505 was deposited at the Navy Federal Credit Union branch at 5226 Monticello Ave. in James City County, police said. The funds were later withdrawn by a third party.

The man who deposited the check was captured on surveillance video, police said.

Anyone with information about the man in the video is asked to call Investigator Richard Schugeld at 757-259-5159 or email him at [email protected].
