Police seek man who stole hiking boots from Rack Room Shoes

James City County Police are looking for a man believed to have stolen a pair of shoes from Rack Room Shoes on Monticello Avenue, according to a release from the department.

On Aug. 24 at 3:30 p.m., the man walked out of the store wearing a new pair of Sketchers Pelmo khaki hiking boots. The boots are valued at $85, police spokeswoman Stephanie Williams said.

The man left the pair of Crocs that he had been wearing in the hiking shoes’ box.

The report was filed the next day on Aug. 25 at 1:15 p.m. The last time a similar larceny occurred at the Rack Room Shoes was in 2012, according to Williams.

Police are still seeking information to help identify the individual.

Callers also can contact the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. Callers to the Crime Line can remain anonymous and will not be required to testify in court. Tipsters also may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if the information leads to an arrest.
