Douglas G. Pons and Edward F. Maslin were officially sworn in as members of the Williamsburg City Council Monday during a ceremony at the Courthouse of 1770 in the Historic Area.
Also during the ceremony, City Council unanimously selected Paul T. Freiling for another two-year term as mayor and Pons as vice mayor. Pons replaces Scott Foster, who did not to seek another term on council.
Pons, who owns the Flats of Williamsburg housing development, is beginning his third term on the council. Maslin is a Riverside Health System program manager and a former Williamsburg firefighter and paramedic.

“We’ve got lot of things to work on, and I look forward to hearing from everybody over the next four years,” Pons said after being sworn in by Williamsburg-James City County Circuit Court Judge Michael E. McGinty.
Maslin said he is eager to begin his tenure on City Council.
“Williamsburg is a great place to live, work, learn and visit,” he said. “I look forward to working with Paul, Doug, Barbara, Benny and our dedicated city staff to further serve the City of Williamsburg and its citizens.”
The council also reappointed Christina Shelton as city attorney and Andrew Trivette as council clerk and interim city manager.
City Council’s next meeting is 2 p.m. July 12 at the Stryker Center, 412 N. Boundary St.
