
Five people, including a child, were displaced Saturday after fire damaged a duplex in Williamsburg.
Smoke was coming from the home on Bassett Road when firefighters arrived shortly before before 10 a.m., Williamsburg fire officials. Crews brought the blaze, which was contained to the kitchen, under control within 15 minutes.
The other unit in the duplex suffered smoke damage, fire officials said. No injuries were reported.
Fourteen firefighters from Williamsburg as well as James City and York counties responded to the incident, officials said.
Williamsburg’s Community Risk Reduction team is investigating the fire.
