The FBI is asking for the public’s help in finding two children who went missing from James City County in 2014.
The agency’s Norfolk Field Office is looking for Amina and Belel Kandil, who are now 14 and 12 years old respectively, the FBI said Thursday.
The children were last seen Aug. 30, 2014, with their father, Ahmed Abdalla Taha Kandil. At the time, the three were boarding a flight at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York and headed to Boryspil, Ukraine, then to Ataturk, Turkey, the FBI said.
The FBI believes the children may now be living in the Alexandria, Cairo or Giza areas of Egypt, or in the Hatay region of Turkey.
Amina Kandil is now 14 years old and has blue eyes and brown hair. When she disappeared, she was about 5 feet, 2 inches tall and 82 pounds. She was born Sept. 1, 2003, in Augusta, Georgia.
Belel Kandil has blue eyes and blonde hair. When he disappeared in 2014, he was about 4 feet, 5 inches tall and about 55 pounds. He was born Jan. 4, 2006, also in Augusta.

Ahmed Abdalla Taha Kandil is a 46-year-old man with brown hair and green eyes. He is 6 feet tall and weighs about 170 or 180 pounds. He is a naturalized citizen of the United States

The FBI is working with both the James City County Police Department and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to find the Kandils.
Anyone with information on the children’s whereabouts is asked to call the FBI’s Norfolk Field Office at 757-455-0100, go to tips.fbi.gov, or contact the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 1-800-843-5678.
Those with information can also contact their nearest U.S. Embassy or consulate.
