Man shot near Yorktown fishing pier, sheriff’s office says

YORK — The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a man was shot near the Yorktown fishing pier.

About 12:15 a.m., deputies were called to the 400 block of Water Street, where they found a 29-year-old Hispanic man who had been shot. The victim, whose last residence was in Florida, was taken to a local hospital, where he is in stable condition, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

Anyone who was in the area of the fishing pier at the time of the shooting or who may have information about the incident is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or the tip line at 757-890-4999 using report No. 1802214.
