Organizations in Williamsburg can look forward to a number of grant opportunities from the Williamsburg Community Foundation this fall.
The foundation is encouraging a broad range of community organizations to apply for grants this year, according to a release from the foundation. Organizations that provide community support and address local needs are encouraged to submit an application.
A new grant, An Occasion for the Arts Fund, will be available this year to provide funding for programs in the visual arts such as drawing, painting and sculpture. There is also a variety of other grants available including:
- Williamsburg fund for women and girls, up to $1,000
- An Occasion for the Arts, up to $1,200
- Community endowment, up to $5,000
- Benjamin R. Altshuler memorial fund transportation grants, up to $5,000
- Benjamin R. Altshuler memorial fund for amateur sports, up to $5,000

The foundation will also host a two-part application information session from 9:30-11:30 a.m. on June 27 at the Health Foundation Conference Room. The first session will focus on explaining funding priorities, as well as the application process, with tips on how to strengthen a proposal. The second session is aimed toward helping improve grant writing skills.
