The Williamsburg Volunteer Fire Department is conducting its annual door-to-door fundraising drive.
The volunteer fire department starting on Thursday will talk to residents about why they decided to volunteer and how they serve the community as they go around the city raising money.
Funds collected on the drive will go toward volunteer uniforms, protective gear, training as well as emergency medical supplies and equipment for the department medical units.
The fundraiser ends on April 5.
Last year, the volunteer fire department had 30 volunteers, who worked a total of 6,180 hours, according to a news release from the department. The volunteers have diverse backgrounds serving as emergency medical technicians, William and Mary students and paramedics.
Donations are tax deductible, according to the release.
Checks should be mailed to 440 North Boundary Street.
