Students at William & Mary’s Campus Kitchen work to feed the hungry in Greater Williamsburg, but they can’t do it without community support.
Campus Kitchen at William & Mary is an affiliate of a national volunteer organization, The Campus Kitchens Project. The non-profit’s goal is to use existing resources to meet nutritional and hunger in the area, according to its website. Each year, Campus Kitchen serves approximately 100 Williamsburg residents per week and more than 2,000 meals overall.
The Raise the Dough competition is a week-long fundraiser running from Feb. 16 to midnight on Friday, Feb. 23, according to a release.
During the event, William & Mary’s Campus Kitchen is competing with other Campus Kitchens nationwide with the goal of raising $2,000 to build long-term solutions to hunger and food waste, while maintaining sustainable practices, according to the website.

In addition, Campus Kitchen at William & Mary will be offering raffle prizes to those who make donations. Prizes range from a free Baskin Robbins Polar Pizza to a $100 Visa gift card.
A minimum donation of $5 will provide new toys and games for 20 to 30 children. A donation of $20 will help cover the costs of Campus Kitchen’s new nutrition-education program.
